Usage & metering
How Syncanix meters usage with monthly active end users (MAEU), how the count works, what happens at your limit, and where to track it.
Syncanix meters usage by the people who actually use your assistant — not by seats, requests, or servers. The unit is the monthly active end user, or MAEU.
What’s an MAEU?
An MAEU is one distinct end user who interacts with your assistant during a calendar month (UTC). The same person chatting ten times in a month counts once. The count resets at the start of each month.
How it’s counted
The meter is designed to charge you for reach, not activity. A few rules follow from that:
- Each distinct end user is counted once per month, no matter how much they chat.
- The count resets to zero at the start of every calendar month (UTC).
- Your own team using the dashboard does not count toward MAEU — only your product’s end users do.
Your monthly allowance
Each plan includes a monthly MAEU allowance; Enterprise is uncapped. The exact number for each plan is on the pricing page.
Approaching the limit
The dashboard shows your current usage against your allowance, with a status that changes as you get closer:
- Within
- Comfortably under your allowance. Nothing to do.
- Approaching
- You’ve used about 80% of your allowance — a good moment to consider upgrading.
- Reached
- You’ve hit your allowance for the month.
When you reach the cap
Reaching your allowance does not switch your assistant off. Everyone who has already chatted this month keeps working normally. Only brand-new end users beyond the limit are paused, and the count clears at the start of the next month. Upgrading raises the allowance immediately.
Tracking usage
Open Settings → Billing in the dashboard to see your current MAEU usage, your allowance, and where you are in the month. Usage logs break activity down in more detail.
