Per-resolution pricing means a runaway clarifying-question loop, a retry storm against your API, or a single confused end-user can produce a surprise bill nobody noticed until invoice day. We have all seen the screenshots — a single conversation shouldn’t cost four figures.
Syncanix meters by MAEU — the count of distinct end-users your agent helped this month. A heavy user is one MAEU. A retry storm is one MAEU. Eleven categories of non-billable interaction (greeting-only, low-confidence handoff, tool-failure rollback, safety refusal, retry attempt, and the rest of ADR-0026) are excluded by code, not by policy — the classifier ships in every turn and the rows land in your usage log so you can audit them.

- What counts as a Monthly Active End User (MAEU)?
- A unique end-user identity that started at least one conversation in the calendar month. We track on the verified `sub` claim of the user JWT so the same user across multiple devices counts once. End users who only view a static page never count.
- What happens when I reach a cap mid-month?
- Nothing surprising — we never bill retroactively. You get dashboard and email warnings at 80% and 95% of any cap. At 100%, new conversations pause until you upgrade or apply prepaid usage credits ($50 per pack — 4,000 agent messages or 1,000 agent actions, valid 12 months); existing conversations and your data stay readable. No surprise invoices, ever.
- Does BYOK actually save me money?
- Usually, yes. On Managed plans, model usage is bundled into your tier and credit prices — one predictable invoice. With BYOK you bring your own Anthropic, OpenAI, or Bedrock-EU keys and model usage flows directly to your provider account at your negotiated rate. Scale and Enterprise require BYOK.
- What is the annual prepay discount?
- Annual prepay saves 10% across Starter, Growth, and Scale; 2- and 3-year prepay terms save 18% and 25%. Enterprise rates are negotiated; multi-year locks follow the same schedule.
- How do I cancel?
- Self-serve in your dashboard at any time. Monthly plans stop at the end of the current billing period. Annual plans are non-refundable but you keep service through the paid term. Your catalog stays exportable forever; no lock-in.
- What is included with Enterprise?
- VPC deployment, SSO/SAML, signed DPA, the SOC 2 evidence pack (Type I targeted Q3 2026), a custom signed SLA, a dedicated customer success manager, self-hosted MCP option, and multi-year rate locks. Pricing starts at $36K/yr — contact sales for a tailored quote.
- What counts as a "resolved interaction"?
- Syncanix bills by Monthly Active End User (MAEU), not by individual resolved interactions. A resolved interaction is any conversation turn where the AI produced a final response — but because MAEU caps your total cost per active user per month, a user with 100 resolved interactions in a month costs exactly the same as a user with 1. This protects you from runaway per-turn billing and makes monthly costs predictable regardless of how intensively your users engage.
